Longing for nostalgia

What’s the German word for ‘wishing you experienced something as a kid so you can feel nostalgic about it as an adult'?

I’ve been getting this feeling a lot lately; a feeling that I wish I’d watched or played something as a kid, so that I can now feel nostalgia for it

I’ve been watching the original animated X-Men series on Disney+. I never watched when I was younger (I was a Pokémon kid). But seeing how excited adults are getting at the release of X-Men ‘97 makes me really wish I’d seen it, so that I could reminisce and feel nostalgic about it

Similarly, a friend recently lent me Pokémon Silver and Gold on Gameboy - both of which I never played as a kid - I played Red to death but then somehow didn’t play another until Fire Red?! Don’t get me wrong, I’m really excited to play these with fresh eyes, completely unspoiled (at least when some new batteries have been soldered into the cartridges..) but seeing how excited he got talking about his childhood memories of these games make me a little bit jealous tbh. I hope they do, but I doubt they’ll hit as hard playing them today, as they would have done playing them as a kid

I know this is all whinging for whinging’s sake - after all, I have great memories of watching and playing Pokémon, and feel a sense of nostalgia when they get resurfaced, but I just found this recurring feeling of longing for nostalgia kind of interesting
